Curriculum and Report Card Information

CURRICULUM

Our language arts curriculum is based on the Pennsylvania state standards.  We also have a program that we use to anchor our instruction in reading and writing called Units of Study.  Word work and vocabulary instruction have a program from the 95% group titled "Multisyllable Routine" and "Vocabulary Surge" to aid in our students' decoding and comprehension of words.

Our math curriculum is also based on the Pennsylvania state standards.  Our team of teachers works together to design instruction, application, and assessments meant to challenge our students.  This year, we are implementing learning plans in some units to provide a framework for students to choose their own paths for learning key math skills.

Our district has designed units for our content areas based on the Pennsylvania state standards in science and social studies.  We may be studying throughout the year several key topics: government, life science, geography, ecosystems, energy, culture, space, communities, rocks and minerals, and careers.

We are following a program for social emotional learning titled "The Mind Up Curriculum".  Students will participate in mini-lessons helping to develop skills that are key to navigating emotions and work through life circumstances.
REPORT CARD

The file below is a sample copy of the report card for third grade in Red Lion.  Students will be assessed throughout the year on these concepts and skills.  Cumulative grades will be posted on a report card at the end of the second marking period (January) and fourth marking period (May).
