I am looking forward to another year of band and the opportunities it will bring for our students.

This year, students will continue developing their musical skills through a variety of ensembles and events:

Spirit Night

• Date: Friday, October 2

• Students will perform the pre-game music at the Red Lion v. Southwestern football game.

• More details and a permission slip can be found in the documents section.

Symphonic Band

• Eligibility: By invitation

• Rehearsals: Tuesday evenings, 6:00–7:00 p.m., beginning November 18

• Performances: January 26 and April 27

• Additional Opportunity: Participation in the High Note Festival (tentatively May 14)

• More details will be shared as the season approaches.

Concert Band

• Membership: 2nd- and 3rd-year students

• Structure: Two concert bands, each made up of students from three elementary schools

• Rehearsals: Twice during the school day

• After-School Commitments: Concert Dress Rehearsal (April 26) and Spring Concert (April 27)

• Symphonic Band students also participate in Concert Band.

Beginner Band

• Membership: 1st-year students

• Structure: Two beginner bands, each made up of students from three elementary schools

• Rehearsals: Twice during the school day

• After-School Commitments: Concert Dress Rehearsal (April 26) and Spring Concert (April 27)

• First lesson: Wednesday, August 26

• Second lesson: Tuesday, September 15

Locust Grove

• First lesson: Thursday, August 27 or Friday August 28

• Second lesson: Wednesday, September 16 or Thursday September 17

• Regular schedule: Day 4 or 5

Pleasant View

• First lesson: Monday, August 31st

• Second lesson: Wednesday, September 16 or Friday, September 18

• Regular schedule: Day 4 or 6
