Miss Abbie Rider is a fifth grade teacher at Locust Grove Elementary School. She is excited about jumpstarting her fifteenth year of teaching.Upon her graduation from York College of Pennsylvania in the spring of 2003, Abbie was first employed by the Lower Dauphin School District as a year-long substitute teacher in a third grade classroom. After completing her year at Lower Dauphin Abbie was employed as a floating substitute teacher in the Red Lion Area School District. She began her Red Lion substitute teaching in a fifth grade classroom at Locust Grove and then moved to a third grade position also in Locust Grove. She completed the year at Mazie Gable in a sixth grade position. At the end of her time at Mazie Gable Abbie was offered a third grade teaching position at Locust Grove Elementary. She taught third grade for seven years before transitioning into a fifth grade position where she currently teaches writing and science.
Abbie has her master's degree in Educational Curriculum Design from Penn State University which she acquired in 2009.
In addition to teaching Abbie enjoys reading. She is a passionate reader and is excited about sharing books with others. Abbie likes listening to live music. She can often be found discovering new and upcoming local bands and musical acts. Abbie could be described as a foodie. Venturing out to find new and interesting restaurants is exciting to her. If Abbie doesn't have her nose in a book, earbuds in her ears or consuming exotic cuisine she is outdoors appreciating nature and exercising.Often she is zipping back and forth to the gym on her bike. In addition to her various passions and interests her most favorite past time is spoiling her nieces and nephews.
