Bio

Ms. Brooke Bensinger is currently the school counselor at Locust Grove Elementary School.  She has been employed by Red Lion Area School District since 2003 and was previously a school counselor at Red Lion Area Junior High School.  Ms. Bensinger earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from McDaniel College.  Prior to receiving her certification in school counseling, Ms. Bensinger was employed in the mental health and social services fields.
 

The mission of the school counselor is to have a positive impact on the development of students’ academic skills, personal/social skills, and career interests. Through educator, parent, and community partnerships, the school counselor will facilitate the development of a support system that enhances student achievement and learning and promotes the growth of productive citizens for the future. It is Ms. Bensinger's vision that students will gain self-confidence and feel empowered to become engaged learners, effective problem-solvers, and responsible self-advocates as they transition through school and life’s milestones.

 
Ms. Bensinger is active in community service.  She volunteers at Community REACH and Susquehanna Service Dogs.  She raised a yellow lab, Armstrong, for Susquehanna Service Dogs and has since adopted him. Armstrong is a certified therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International and will accompany Ms. Bensinger to school on most days.  
 
Ms. Bensinger has lived in our school district for over 30 years and her two children have attended the Red Lion schools.  In her spare time, Ms. Bensinger enjoys sports, baking, tie-dying, and Zumba.
